Study traditional Kintsugi with true Japanese Master. We provide the only workshop in Tokyo where you can learn traditional Kintsugi using the authentication system methods of Urushi and maki-e techniques.

KintsugiSouke offers a one-day workshop as well as 6 days or 12-days Master Classes for in-depth study. This a rare opportunity to study with the highly skilled and internationally recognized Kintsugi Master and Artist. Master Tsukamoto.

JOIN MY 1 DAY WORKSHOP

My workshops on Airbnb are an introductory classes to the world of Kintsugi.

If you’d like to seriously pursue the craft and  be able to do them on your own, I regularly hold classes for my local students and I recommend staying extra time in Japan and participate in my local master classes.

6 Days Master Class

Learn the very basics of Kintsugi in a short time.

You’ll be learning how to mend 1 ceramic item with simple fracture. 

Term: 6 days (except Sundays)

Hours: 4 hours (1pm-5pm) per day

Structure of the Course

Day 1: You’ll learn and experience an over all process of Kintsugi (very hands on), mending a ceramic item using Japanese Urushi & Gold with the Makie Technique as well as an introduction to its history and philosophy of wabi-sabi. 

Day 2 to 6: You’ll be mending 1 ceramic item with a simple fracture in my studio.

Note:

  • Tools and materials will be provided.

  • Please bring 1 ceramic item with a simple fracture that you’d like to fix. If you do not have one, I can also provide one for you.

*If you have a certain item you would like to mend, please send me a photo of it in advance to distinguish the complexity of the fracture.

12 Days Master Class

Learn the basics of Kintsugi and application. You’ll be learning how to mend 2 to 3 ceramic items with more complex fracture.

Term:  12 days (except Sundays)

Hours: 4 hours (1pm-5pm) per day

Structure of the Course

Day 1: You’ll learn and experience an over all process of Kintsugi (very hands on), mending a ceramic item using Japanese Urushi & Gold with the Makie Technique as well as an introduction to its history and philosophy of wabi-sabi. 

Day 2 to 12: You’ll be mending 2 to 3 ceramic item with various fractures in my studio

Note:

  • Tools and materials will be provided.

  • Please bring 2-3 ceramic item that you’d like to mend. 

Language

During the Master Class, as I only speak Japanese, I’ll have an English speaking assistant present on Day 1 which will be the overview of the Kintsugi method & introduction to history. On other days my English speaking apprentices will be coming in to assist on couple of days for any questions you may have.
